Forming
Although hot forming of Clifton Steel’s Hadfield Grade Tensamang™ steel plate is not recommended, the product can be cold formed. It can also be reheated, which will result in carbide precipitation and embrittlement.
Ask about our pre-peening operation if you can’t wait for a work hardening surface to occur.
Thermal Treatment
Cutting & Machining
Cutting and machining Tensamang™ steel are not automatic. Our Tensamang™ steel plate has been designed with cutting and machining ease in mind. It can be cut with plasma, oxy-Acetylene, laser, and water jet as well as with abrasive cut-off saws, thereby eliminating the need to acquire costly new cutting tools. Although not considered a machinable grade, Clifton Steel has the experience and the know-how to drill, tap, machine and grind our Tensamang™ steel to meet your fabrication requirements. Welding
Welding of our Tensamang™ steel is easily accomplished with Clifton Steel’s Tensaweld Mang-312 wire. Ductility will be increased in the fusion zone by peening. Preheating of our Tensamang™ steel is not recommended.
